I am an American living abroad. I have assets in both the US and UK, where I live. I would like to create a Will and Living Will that will be enforceable in both US and UK. How can I do this, keeping in mind I’d like to keep costs down (no expensive lawyer fees).

I would like to know:
1) What will happen to my shares if GM declares bankruptcy?
2) If it re-emerges from bankruptcy, and issues new stocks under a new name, what will happen to my stocks under the Obama plan?
3) If the stocks go to Zero, and new shares under a new name not given to old share holders, when can I deduct the losses on my taxes as the shares are in my SEP-IRA.
Thanks

Do most plan to spend their sunset years watching television and films, listening to music or going for long walks?

Just curious to know if an irrevocable power of attorney limited to a specific transaction can later be revoked? If so what is the point of stating it is "irrevocable"….

As you know, retirement funds are invested in stocks, bonds, etc. etc. So I am asking your opinion. Do you think retirement funds are in jeopardy, or can the retirees relax and be sure they will receive their pension checks until cemetery day?

I had been photographing the nest to see it’s progress without moving it or touching it. I am afraid I scared the mother off, but if this were the case, the chicks would still be there. Everything is gone and nothing is on the ground–no dead chicks or egg shells. What could have happened? The bush is too spindly to support a racoon or a possum.

OK, my parents house was in foreclosure, so I bought it and got a mortgage on it. After a year and a half, they bought it back from me. Part of my sale to them was a "gift of equity" of about ,000, so that they could obtain a mortgage. Do I need to report this "gift of equity", and if so how? From what I’ve read, it appears I need to file a gift tax return, but (since this is my first gift, I’m well under the ,000,000 lifetime limit) I won’t need to pay any tax on this. Am I correct in my understanding of this?
Thanks for responses to far! A couple of details for clarification:
1) The house was sold in March, at which time I was single. I was married later that year. Can I split the gift between me and my wife?
2) Technically, only my Mom bought the house, so am I still able to claim part of the gift went to my Dad?
3) Exactly what affect does any of this have on estate taxes (this is the first I’ve heard of this)?

Why would someone choose to start a LLC or corporation over just owning real estate as an individual? More specifically, why does some choose LLC and some corporation (and within this there is the S corp and C corp I believe)? If anyone could thoroughly explain that would be GREAT! Thanks
