and have it taken away even before you get the increase?
I get SSI and SSDI and its at the lowest end and receive the direction card. Each December they send you a letter like I just got a few minutes ago stating 97% of the income increase I will be getting will be deducted on my Direction Card…. plus my rent will go up and I will wind up owing more than I receive. Any seniors have this also?
Does it upset you like it does me?

I am years from retirement, but an immediate annuity appears to offer a higher withdrawal rate than I can guarantee on my own. If I plan for an annuity it can help me achieve my goal. Is that a good strategy?

I am taking a lump sum distribution from my 401K (job change). I know it’s not the best choice for my future, but circumstances require it. I know I will have 20% taken in Federal Income Tax, and a 10% early withdrawl taken, but should I withold some $ for State Taxes? If so, how much is it for WI residents?
Thank you all!

If I work as a Business owner and have remaining (net) profits left, can I put this money into a savings account or a retirement type of plan, that way I can earn interest and not pay the remaining balance?
Is this illegal?

From what I understand FICA is taken to fund Social Security & Medicare. If so, why do we also have a Medicare withholding too? Does the FICA Withholding money go to a different part of Medicare than the Medicare Withholding money? Can someone help me understand?

My parents lived a very upper middle class life. My mom never had and still does not work outside the home. But about 13 years ago after 31 years of service for my dads company the corporation went bankrupt. My dad lost his job he had a couple of jobs in the same field but it was never the same or as good as the old company.
My parents thought my dad would have this job until retirement and they did not expect the party to end when it did, they in thier earlier years spend a lot of money on things. As a result they are doing alright but not as good as they could be if they saved more and spend less.
My question how can my husband and I be more diligent about saving for our future? I have an IRA and we do have some 401K saved up and we never spend any of it.
What are good ways to save for the future so you can have a future and not just have to depend on social ss? I dont expect us to be rich but I want us to live comfortably. What is your take on this. Thanks:)

I understand the risks involved with penny stock investing. I need some investments that have the potential for large returns in a short period of time. What data should I look for in a penny stock to improve my chances of finding the winners?

I have many 401Ks lying around from different
companies I have worked for. I want to consolidate
into 1 IRA which I can direct and buy stocks and
mutual funds with. I want a broker who will
give me Morningstar Premium access.
Is there one ?
If not, what’s the best way to compare the IRAs from
the online brokers?
since one answer wonders "why will
broker give it to you", I suggest
he re-read the question.
I am looking to find some broker
who will give it to me for free.
Not "wondering why…"
In case that "Top Answerer" isnt
aware, some brokers are ready to
deposit 0/- in your account,
if open an account with them +
various others gimmicks.
It is easily possible that one of
them offers the Premium and then
some other gimmes. Hence, the
question in the first place.
