My daughter is volunteering as a host at the military hospitality lounge at the airport where most of the people she has encountered are retired veterans.

What is the proper way for an 18 yr. old to address a retired member of the military? She uses Sir and Ma’am presently, but being 18 doesn’t actually want to ask her supervisor.

What would the tax consequences be for me for converting my IRA to a Roth in 2006? It was only 5. I currently make k/year and live in Oregon.
I assume, since I’m in the 15% Federal tax bracket, and 8% state tax bracket, then that means it would cost me 23%… That can’t be right. I don’t get taxed that much on my paychecks….
I meant that I make k per year, NOT k. I wish!

What others are there, and what exactly is a bond? i believe they arent fdic insured right?

My husband is a combat veteran of the US Army, and we want to move to Germany. He got out of the Army several years ago. He doesn’t get any benefits yet but will soon, it’s in process. Now: Can we get these benefits living in Germany, as in: monthly check?
And: Can he go to some VA center for follow-up to have his percentage increased?

I have completed a B Bus in applied finance majoring in Financial Planning, I also have an MBA (Finance and accounting) from an Australian Uni, and am interested in becoming a financial planner, but everytime I try to apply for a job in Australia they require you to have a Dip in Financial Planning, do I need to complete the Dip in order to pursue a career in Financial planning? My 88yrold father has been worrying about people taking his money over the comp and ended up calling the police a few times so he’s got dementia a bit. But my damn sister (a nurse) brought him to a psych unit without anyone knowing. He spent a couple weeks there and got meds.
He’s now home but my sister got the state involved and he was assigned a legal guardian (lawyer) who charges 00 a MONTH to pay 2 or 3 bills! She was supposed to be just for 3 months and then we wanted to take over. My older brother was waiting for the court hearing to allow him to take over but he called the guardian and she said she’s permanent and she didn’t even attend the hearing and none of us were notified of it!
Now we want to get rid of her bad, should we get an elder law lawyer? Is that the right type?
