My father is in a nursing home recovering from Congestive Heart Failure and Progressive Kidney Disease. I am trying to get him Medicaid insurance. They are telling me i have to cash in his life insurance and either prepay his funeral or Spend Down the amount to get him to be eligible? they are telling me he is about 0 over the 00 allowed. My quesiton is, can i take this money and pay his past due utility bills and car insurance, rent that has gone behind because of his hospitalization?

My mother-in-law has abandoned my father-in-law as he is nearing death
(by cancer) day by day . Earlier she made indirect attempts to make us
seperate him as though he is a leprosy patient. Strangely enough
I(daughter-in-law) is doing all his chores e.g washing his clothes,
making his feed(liquid) every 2-hours, (as he cannot swallow (mouth
cancer), there’s a direct tube attached to his stomach from
outside).Still she is not satisfied. When he was able to walk, she
would not allow him enter his own room & use his own bathroom unless
its very urgent.He was even allowed to go within a feet of her cot.It
was her routine to yell at him every-now & then on him. Finally I lost
patience & I shouted on her at the top of my voice. Since then she
kept quite while I was around.But as soon as I was out of sight &
sound she would start abusing him again.She already had seperated her
utensils . she wouldn’t eat food made by my own hand.
Everyday she would complain to my
husband.He knew about it all. Still I don’t think he even scolded her
for this, rather he used to ask my father-in-law not to go near her or
any of her things.He couldn’t even put his own washed clothes in any
of the two almirahs.slowly she threw him out of her room.He was
allowed to go by the wall If he wanted to use toilet.although he went
to urinate outside our house. but he was compelled to use it for
bathing& passing stool.
Seeing this my elder brother-in-law proposed
to bring her to his house.She put a condition that she wouldn’t come
back here.She could’nt get along with them also & she went to her
brother’s place.There also she tried to antagonise them against me but
failed as everybody rebuked her especially my brother-in-law.
Now the problem is I DON’T WANT HER BACK HOME once
my father-in-law expires. As I know my husband He will try to bring
her back as she had never got along with anyone in her lifetime & He
thinks whatever her nature is, we will have to keep her as it would be
his duty as a son. Right now he is taking care of his father every
second when he is home.Even at night he sleeps beside him. My children
are quite young still they never complain that their father is not
spending time with them.I have already told him not to worry about me
or the children. I take them out on holidays, if they feel shut at
home.We take care that at least one of us is with father-in-law &
other with kids.
AM I WRONG , NOT TO WANT MY MOTHER IN LAW BACK
HOME????

My Dad purchased whole life insurance through AXA Equitable which is all paid for. What happens if the life insurance company goes bankrupt or their assets are under water like so many other financial institutions these days? Will the benefits still be payable?

I also think it’s strange that he had to pay 0 more to this insurance company as an "adjustment"(?) recently even though the policy was fully paid for a long time ago. Is this normal?
