I know their fees are ridiculously high and their returns aren’t anything special. I feel that it’s smarter to buy term life insurance and invest in no load mutual funds versus putting money somewhere that charges fees for everything.

I am trying to find out if I need a financial planner. I’m 32 years old, both my wife and i have good jobs, we own our home, have no credit card debt, no car payments and a decent savings.

I have done ok for myself without a financial planner, however accept for the 4.75 interest on my savings, my money is not doing anything.

I am scared at the idea of a financial planner. I am not sure I will be comfortable with some one telling me what I should do with money.

The flip side is that just like any one, I would love to have more money for the future.

Can anyone offer any advice that might change my opinion about hiring a financial planner?

hi im 20 years old and had rheumatism since i was 14 and crohn since i was 17 rheumatism runs in my family and my specific one is called bechterew lately im having alot of problems in my knees i wake up at night because of the pain and most of the itme im missing 2 out of 4 classes i go to (i just moved to denmark so i go to danish learning school) my boyfriends friend is 23 and has a pension wich took her 2 years to get she also has a mobility dissease but her dissease cant be seen on xrays she said i should look into it so i called my doctor to send a report over translated in english and i want to go to the hospital to take xrays of my hips knees and hands.. but my question is as a foreigner in denmark (im a EU citizen) how big is my chance of getting one? i have been living here for a year and havent worked yet i worked for 2 months in belgium but 1 of the 2 months i was home because it was to hard for me

with the fed cutting the rates so low, now would be a good time to think about refinancing right? my mortgage interest rate is currently 6.25 fixed, i think we owe about ,000 on it. my husband and i have excellent credit, and we’ve been in our home for 5 years. would refinancing lower our monthly payment significantly, how much does it cost to refinance?

With prime rate continually decreasing would it be wise to refinance my mortgage. Just bought the house in July and my rate is decent, but over time a decrease would help.

Does it affect property taxes? Will I pay closing cost? Lower monthly payment?

Thanks! I’m with Countrywide and they sent me to a mortgage broker (?) she said that to have no closing cost or points the rate wouldn’t be the lowest b/c they have to pay for title work etc. I hve no prepayment penalty either.

Agreed he has not been in good form and has probably lost all respect and trust of his team-mates after the release of his book but still this guy has been the pillar of South Africa’s tremendous success, scoring at a blitz rate and giving the side the cyclonic start in pressure games (vs Australia 438) when required. I am on the Marine Temporary Disabled Retirement List. During "DTAP" I vaguely recall a warning not to reveal (not disability, but) receipt of pension to future employers as they may discriminate salary-wise. Theory being that employers often pay "retirees" less because its assumed our financial need is primarily met by the other income. (1st question: is this founded and how will I find out since its uncouth/prohibited to discuss salary with co-workers?) Additionally, I just received orders to report to my 1st periodic exam. I do not want to have to use my vaction/sick/personal days (my employer groups them) for -military orders-. (2nd part of the question; can they count the day or two taken for this against my earned time off?) Finally, my orders mention that failure to report could result in termination of pension & benefits. (Given answers to 1 & 2; 3rd part: do I risk providing this info since it will probably be necessary to avoid expending earned time off?) Thank you!

Our current 30-year mortgage is at 5.25% but I think we could get it down below 5%. We’re about 5 years into this 30-year mortgage and haven’t missed a payment (and don’t expect to). Here are my questions:
A) Even if we got a loan down to under 5%, would it be appreciably different over the long-term from a financial standpoint?
B) Are banks in existence that would allow a couple to refinance and pay zero fees? Over the course of even 15 years, banks make a lot of money from interest… why charge someone a fee? I realize it’s not up to me.
C) If we maintain our 30-year mortgage… say we don’t wind up refinancing… does it save a person/couple a lot if they were to pay one or two extra payments a year? Loan amount 200k, interest 5.25%.

Any advice appreciated.
