I recently received my social security number, (about 2 months ago) I then applied for employment I quickly was offered a job. After the employer did the background check I received a letter saying that they were unable to offer me the employment. The report stated that my ssn has never been issued, and it was unable to be validated. What can i do to get this problem fixed so it wont cause this with future employers? Thank you for you time.

If a person takes their SS early for whatever reason and works, they have for every they earn over ,180 taken out of their SS. Why not encourage older workers, no matter when they drew Social Security, to work as much as they want? It would be a win win. Their wages would be taxed therefore adding to the Social security fund and they could have a better quality of life due to more income.

They get a ‘lifetime’ retirement, regardless of length of service. The military retirement (fair game for considering cuts when talking of budget/deficit) requires 20 years of service, putting your life on the line often. Let Congress and the President return to the private sector, looking for employment, when their terms are up. Most of them are ‘well off’ enough, they don’t need to anyway.

I have an IRA account with Vanguard. I would like to move my old contributions from Vanguard STAR fund to Vanguard S&P 500 index fund. Will this transfer incur any costs or fees?
I know that new contributions can be directed into a new fund without incurring cost/fees, but what about old contributions. Can they be moved from one fund into another without incurring costs/fees.

I am a 32 teacher in california with multiple sclerosis. I want to put the max away for retirement 16k per year. My only fear is that I won’t be able to access this money without penalty should I become disabled before retirement age. What are the rules? Are there any exceptions for someone like me?

Does receiving royalties due to a licensing contract for an invention that you have a U.S. patent on qualify for Long-Term Capitol Gains treatment if the contract has a 6 year term?
