A robin's nest in a bush next to our back door contained 2 new chicks & an egg. Today it is empty. Why?
I had been photographing the nest to see it’s progress without moving it or touching it. I am afraid I scared the mother off, but if this were the case, the chicks would still be there. Everything is gone and nothing is on the ground–no dead chicks or egg shells. What could have happened? The bush is too spindly to support a racoon or a possum.

Maybe it was a rat or some other small predator, or predatory bird..
The robin has moved it or a blue jay got to it but if the egg shell is gone the robin may have moved it herself.
