Is the salary high enough to take this new job?
I have two good job offers on the table right now and am having a hard time deciding which to take.
Job one has good benefits and a company vehicle. It is 40 miles from my home.
Job two has more benefits, no company vehicle and is 60 miles from my home. This job pays ,000 more.
The most important benefits (health and retirement) are similar.
How much is the vehicle really worth? I expected a higher salary from job two because it is Westchester County, NY. If I look at a salary calculator between the two jobs, job two looks low. Does that matter since I am not leaving my home and will live here no matter which job I take?

With hard decisions I like to make a pros and cons list. So just take a sheet and do pros one side and cons on the other for both jobs. This makes it easier to compare. If it’s still hard to compare you might add a points system. Some things are more of a plus than others or more of a down than other things. I use a 1-3 point system. 3 being very important and 1 being only sort of important
i would take the second job because it pays more, its worth getting paid 18,000 extra, and with this money you can buy a very very good car, better than company…
Ok, this will be different from most of your answers.
Examine the jobs, Which would you be happier in. Just because one pays less, doesn’t mean it will stay that way if you apply yourself and do a really good job.
How do you like commuting…. I hated it, but some people like driving a lot.
You don’t say your age, If you are young, either of these jobs are probably just a stepping stone to other opportunities in life,
If you are over 40, you should start paying attention to your tretirement in 25 years.
Above all Know Yourself !!! Life is short, pick what fits you best.

60 miles is 120 miles a day with a vehicle you must pay for and that will add almost 1.5 hrs a day to your work time……………..and
cost you prob 1000 a mont overall–pmts–gas-insur-tires-accidents—
net 6 thou after you look 18 less 12 = 6 and then 3 hours wasted each day…
1.5 hrs lost time each day extra driving ect 40.00 200.00 wk x 48 wks =9600 dollars wasted in car travel.. loss
net loss 3600… for job two..
I’m not a good commuter, I like to be within 20 minutes of my job.
If it were me, I’d go with a shorter commute. I would pay attention to who my immediate supervisor is, bc nothing can make up for a difficult boss. Also, look at long term trends with regard to each job, where do you see people the happiest and what about advancement potential?
