My husband will be living in South korea with the Army, How can we text inexpensively?
My husband is being transferred to Korea and we currently have AT&T but they charge an arm and a leg for anything international. Does anyone know what service we should use or a pay as you go type thing we can use to text. I’m not worried about calling so much because we can skype, but we like to keep in contact during the day. We would both need new phones that will work in Virginia and Korea and not cost too much. Pay as you go would be ideal.

Emily is the correct answer here. However, I don’t know how much texting you will be doing since Korea is 14 hours (daylight saving time) ahead of Virginia so you will need a creative schedule to stay in touch with him. Save your cell phone minutes and just stick to Skype. Your hubby can go to any internet cafe in Korea and used yahoo messenger, MSN messenger, skype, etc. to chat with you anyway. BTW, he probably won’t be allowed to have his cell with him at work anyway depending on his MOS.
i try to write the answers your problem in my blog http://www.mystructuredsettlement.co.cc you can see any problem in my blog or in my business blog http://www.mysecuredloan.co.cc
Vonage is cheap, if you have computer access.
Maybe you can use Skype or any other internet based communication means.
I text with Skype, too. Problem is that, unless you have a mobile skype phone (or have it on your cell), you have to be home to text. My husband has a blackberry and has "iskoot" (skype) and can text his mom in Korea. I can also text with my cell phone to his email account. Just sending him short emails from my phone. There are so many ways to get around the system.
