I have written out my living will, and I have a brother that refuses to acknowledge it unless it is
done legally. Even though my parents had their living wills done with a Notary, he disregarded
their wishes, and put my Dad though 3 weeks of hell before he finally died. He put my Mom through
2 weeks of hell before she died. I do not want him to do the same to me. Is there a way to exclude him from any decision making? And how else can I make a living will that NO ONE can act against?

A link is what I’m looking for here, but any comments are more than welcome. I know that withdrawals can be made for Roth IRAs up to what has been deposited, for a first house, and for colleges. Do the same or any of these conditions apply to the traditional IRAs? My dad doesn’t understand the system, and is having problems paying for my sister’s college. Thanks!

I’m about to graduate, but I still don’t understand how retirement works.
My dad had a salaried job.He planned to live off the retirement that the company would give him.But when he was 51 he was laid off.The only job he could find is a pay-by-the-hour job.It doesn’t pay retirement.Who’s going to hire a 54-year-old if they have to pay for retirement in just a couple years? How’s it possible for him to find a job? Will he have to work until he dies so he can pay food and bills?Am I the only one who can provide money for him to live when he’s too old to work?My mom just got a /hr job with paid vacation as a receptionist at a doctors office. Will she get retirement? How can a doctors office afford to support each retired employee for the rest of their lives? What keeps any company from laying off all their old workers so they don’t have to pay for retirement?
Now I have to figure out what kind of a job to get. I don’t understand how I’m supposed to build a secure future for myself.

My dad-in-law is terminal and was given a Living Will form by the hospital to complete if he so wished. The documents state that you must complete and file with the US Living Will Registry in Westfield, NJ to be valid. I can’t believe that this absolutley must be filed in order to be valid. Can’t one just complete this form, or a generic of it, and keep on hand in known whereabouts if the issue ever comes up?

I’m doing a survey and they asked if my father was a veteran or just retired. He was in the Grenada War and retired with 100% disability. Since he was in a war, does that make him an army vet.?
My father doesn’t like to talk about it. He was in the army for 22 years and retired when he was about 41 years old. We were watching the History Channel the other day and the guy on the T.V. described his first kill. I asked my dad if he remembered his first kill, and he said, "I don’t want to talk about it."

I don’t know if they do it other markets, but in Arizona drinks are free for seniors at Wendy’s, so lunch with a chicken sandwich and coffee or soda is only 99 cents. My dad says drinks are fee at Taco Bell in his area in Southern California. Everyone has a 99 cent menu lately. Most everyone has a large breakfast platter, but none of them seem to be promoting it. Where do you get the biggest bang for your buck in your area?

That’s what my dad said he heard on the TV. If this is true, retirees and everyone that contributes to the social security fund are paying for abortions. Except for a VERY FEW CASES I am anti-abortion. Babies are people too.

My dad has retired and he’s bored (whist mum is still working). I’d like to get him a dog/puppy, preferably one with short hair (easier grooming).
A dog that needs walking, but not too much and not to hard to train.
We prefer small to medium sized dogs (preferably one that can sleep outside) and I’ve considered Jack Russell and Beagles, but they seem to need too much exercise / easily distractable.
Any ideas?

My Dad served in the US Air Force before I was born and was honorably discharged but never went to war. As his child would I qualify for benefits under the GI Bill?

My grandmother passed away a few months ago. She named my father, executor of estate. My father, step-mom, sister, and I are living in my grandmother’s house (estate). My dad said he spoke to someone who discovered that eversince my grandFATHER passed away 20 years ago, she never received any cost of living increases and may be entitled to them. So that would mean all the money that she would have received from the cost of living increases would be returned. We are paying the house payments ourselves right now. It’s been months now and my father hasn’t heard anything from whoever it was he spoke to. We calculated it up to be a very nice sum that we could use to pay off the house almost completely. If anyone has any information that can help, it would be extemely appreciated.

My father just passed away. He had an attorney make a living trust for him. Now that he is gone I can’t get money out of his checking account to pay my mother’s mortage because the checking account was never added to the trust. The bank stated they will freez the account for 45 days. Also the attorney never had my dad noterize the deed for his share of a property he owned. Now the attorney wants more money to "make things right". Is it the attorney’s responsibility to get all the trust "funded"? I can’t believe an attorney left it up to an 87 year old man to get documents noterized by himself.

Hi, my dad’s asked me to play some background piano music at a retirement party in a few weeks’ time. It’s fairly formal and the age group is middle aged verging on older, and I dont really have any idea what to play.
If anyone could suggest something I’d appreciate all suggestions! Thanks

My dad over the past several years has seen his health go down hill, and until recenly, i have not been able to afford a life insurance policy for him. He has had strokes and heart attacks, so there are some pre existing conditions. Are there any life insurance policies that are affordable, that would cover him? Im just looking for something that would cover funeral cost.
