Next month I’m presenting a presentation to a retirement community about how awesome Skype is for keeping in touch with their distant (sometimes great-)grandchildren. I’m trying to work off some community service (karmic, not legal) by donating my time and knowledge to local seniors on the use of Skype in particular.
The problem I’m facing is that I’m on slide 8 and I don’t know how, or if I should, continue. Slide 1 is the splash "What is Skype?" page, 2 is a list of free services, 3 is paid services (and within the accompanying speech I intend to emphasize that these are business oriented, and that the free services are truly robust, and will not leave them wanting, and slides 4-6 are screen caps to demonstrate clarity of the video. Slide 7 is a sample screen recording from a wicked cute me, mom, and my daughter call, and slide 8 is going to be a "And one more thing…" and do a live call at that moment.
I’m trying to get an idea of what kinds of questions seniors might have so I can be best prepared to address them, what fears I should expect (in their shoes I would assume that I was trying to grift them somehow), and generally any other notes.

Our country’s seniors are NOT afforded the respect they once were, and as a 28 year old I find it infuriating. My goal is to help them use the tools that people in my age range take for granted, because I have the patience to explain (literally) 14 times in a row how to copy pictures onto The Drive Thing.

If anybody can help me with any suggestions on what kind of questions I should prepare for, or really any other input at all that would be super.

And I totally promise that I will give a best answer within a reasonable amount of time (I don’t wanna close it too early, but you’ll get credit). Thanks a lot, all!
Edit 1: Thanks for the support! The presentation is how the business wants to get it started; we show the residents what it is, what they can do with it, do a q&a, etc, and kind of go from there. They want to be sure that it’s something worth investing time and energy into, and interested residents would have to sign up for certain blocks of time and so on.
I’m just hoping that y’all might know somebody who had trouble getting to know Skype and could help me out with THIR questions, or pointers on the slide show; this is my first Keynote presentation since one on PUNK ROCK AND SKINHEADS in high school, so although my concept is good, I was hoping that from what I described somebody more into presentation design theory or whatever could give me some pointers.
Edit 2: Larry, you know that just cos you *can* write stuff doesn’t mean you *should*. The site it called "Yahoo! Answers," not "Yahoo! I’m A Grumpy Old POS Who Is So Stupid I Think That 1/3 of a Page of Text Is Too Much To Be Bothered To Read."

How do I make my living will legal?

I have written out my living will, and I have a brother that refuses to acknowledge it unless it is
done legally. Even though my parents had their living wills done with a Notary, he disregarded
their wishes, and put my Dad though 3 weeks of hell before he finally died. He put my Mom through
2 weeks of hell before she died. I do not want him to do the same to me. Is there a way to exclude him from any decision making? And how else can I make a living will that NO ONE can act against?

I don’t understand, why would you borrow money with a lower interest rate, to pay off borrowed money? Won’t you have to repay that refinanced funds? I clearly do not have a full understanding of this subject, and would appreciate a clear and concise answer to it, 10pts!
Okay mom, but eventually you’ll have to repay that mortgage too won’t you, thus adding to what you already owe?

I’m about to graduate, but I still don’t understand how retirement works.

My dad had a salaried job.He planned to live off the retirement that the company would give him.But when he was 51 he was laid off.The only job he could find is a pay-by-the-hour job.It doesn’t pay retirement.Who’s going to hire a 54-year-old if they have to pay for retirement in just a couple years? How’s it possible for him to find a job? Will he have to work until he dies so he can pay food and bills?Am I the only one who can provide money for him to live when he’s too old to work?My mom just got a /hr job with paid vacation as a receptionist at a doctors office. Will she get retirement? How can a doctors office afford to support each retired employee for the rest of their lives? What keeps any company from laying off all their old workers so they don’t have to pay for retirement?

Now I have to figure out what kind of a job to get. I don’t understand how I’m supposed to build a secure future for myself.

My mom wanted me to ask this question online because she’s been trying everywhere she could and they all keep saying "AFTER 2 YEARS". But we need someone to refinance NOW!

Worried about my retirement?

On my current income I am able to save about 400-600/month. I make in the 40s. I have been using the little financial calculators online and according to them, I need to be putting away 1200-1500 monthly in order to have a proper nest egg for retirement (approx. 1.8 million to retire comfortably around the age of 60).

The problem is I’m 32 and just started saving. I’m already afraid I’ll never be able to retire. I am thinking about going back to school to earn a higher income (I think 70s would be appropriate/comfortable) but maybe there are some things I can do now to get on a better retirement track? Did you start saving later in life and were able to ‘catch up’? I don’t want to work until I’m 75 :(

Any suggestions on working smarter instead of harder?? I am willing to work hard, but if I need to cut spending, get a part time job, start my own business or move abroad I will do what it takes to secure a better financial future for myself. I don’t want to struggle like my mom does to make ends meet; I come from a somewhat poor background and I want to break the cycle of poverty mentality and living paycheck to paycheck.

What did you do to retire comfortably?

I dont qualify for Disability as of right now, but i should this fall. I need to move out of my parent’s house, and give them a break. Right now, they are the ones who have to take me everywhere. And I only ask to go places I need to go. And its still too much on them. Since my stepfather works away, he’s not usually here to help my mom in taking me to the doctor. The reason I dont qualify is because of my resources. As far as medically, I do qualify. I need my independence. As much of it as I am able to handle. I’m 20 years old right now, and am on my parents insurance until i turn 21 this year. What is involved in the process of getting on an assisted living program?
I live in a rural area. No public transportation.

My great-grandpa passed away and named my mom his durable power of attorney saying that she has control and management over everything he owned. Some issues have come up with his land. Does she still have any control over what is to happen if she shows the document?

MOM WANTS REVERSE MORTGAGE…?

In 2007, my mother refinanced the house & she included me to the mortgage as a co-borrower. I also signed a paper that included me in the deed of the house. A few days ago, I talked to her about getting my own place bcoz mom & wife don’t get along with each other. She brought up that she is going to have a reverse mortgage after we move out so that I will not going to pay for 2mortgage (old & new house). It’s not that I’m against her, nor I’m interested in the property or the money. My only concern is the "will be effect" on my name since I’m on the loan & deed as well. If possible, I don’t want to have any problem later on especially now that I’m having my own family. I’m not familiar with this mortgage. Sometimes, it’s easy to say things that you do this & that without realizing the effect afterwards. My questions are:

1) I’m thinking of taking out my name to the loan & the deed as well, before mom do the reverse mortgage. But, I can’t refinance bcoz the house don’t have equity, & even I refinance or loan modification, without my name included, mom cannot qualify bcoz she is not financially stable. The house mortgage is 0,000; present loan amount of 2,000; & the house value is probably between 0,000-0,000. What will I do, & how will I do it?

2) Can she do the reverse mortgage even my name is still on the mortgage & deed? With no house equity, how can she have reverse mortgage then?

3) What would you suggest as the best thing to do?

Thanks in advance.

Hi, First of all I am sorry if I am in the wrong section
I am 15 and my friend want to do something besides theatre at school and I came across the idea of going to A hospital and spending time with sick kids and she thought of retirement homes.

Anyway we are planing to go once a month and alternating between the two place and so forth.
I was wondering if anybody had ideas of
One – What we can do?
Two – If you have any advice for us?
We have thought of Crafts, and Reading to them

Thank you ahead of time.
We live in Maryland if that helps
We may have it a little easier with hospitals because her mom is a pediatric nurse at a hospital

My mom is getting ready to retire. She works for the county and has for 25yrs. Recently they moved her positions and she feels they are trying to get rid of her without giving her her retirement. What is the legal time frame she needs to give them to submit for retiremnt? And can they do that? She is due to retire in December.

My mom and sister are both named on the mortgage. Payments are still being made. My mom just passed and my sister does not have a job because she was caring for our ailing mother.

How old do you have to be to make a living will?

I’m 17 at the moment but will be joining the Guard next summer. I want to make sure I have a living will set up in the event that I don’t make it home.
I meant a legal will. Something that says where everything goes and to whom.
As for my ‘stuff’ I just want make sure things like my guns and guitars go back to my dad, whatever money is in my bank account goes to my mom, then small things like my brother getting whatever electronics he wants (computer, XBox, ect.)
